Ideas needed please…

December13

christmas-trivia-29

This Christmas my family want to do a more laid back and less stress Christmas lunch, we have so much going on and no body wants to make it to hard. I was hoping you might share your Christmas day food ideas so we could come up with a menu that works well for us.

I look forward to some yummy ideas coming my way!

Thanks Rochelle :)

We usually have a couple different meats, chicken and ham or something like that and then boiled spuds and a few different salads to choose from and peas(then thats something I know Steven will eat,LOL) and devilled eggs. For pudding its usually chocolate mousse(in the edmonds cook book ther eis a reciepe for easy chocolate mousse its very verynice) pavlova, ice crean jelly fruit salad. Also this other pudding that my aunty makes and the measurements are jsut what every you want……whipped cream with some plain real yoghurt some marshmallow and frozen berries mix all together and enjoy…yummmmmm.

Hope you can find something useful out of this list and enjoy a strees free xmas lunch

The BBQ will be going along with cold meats and salads, pavlova, fruit salad and ice cream. We don’t do the full hot meal anymore. Its a “kiwi” Christmas!!! LOL

you could try what we did for the ward christmas do. Everyone chipped in so many $ each for the meat and then work out someone to do salads, pudding, breads etc. Makes it way easier

We just planned our menu this afternoon :-)
This year, we are having ham on the bone (glazed with Speights Dark Ale), chicken drumsticks, roast veges, green veges. Then for dessert I am making a Mars Bar Cheesecake (I might put the recipe on my blog sometime this week), ice cream, strawberries, Christmas pud & custard.

Last year we had a BBQ and did lamb steaks, which we had with salads. Really easy & simple, and not too many leftovers to deal with.

Hey Rochelle, thanks for the bloggy award, how cool!!

Our family have given up on the heavy traditional meal now too…we prefer to just eat finger foods all day heh, heh…its good because whoever is getting together for the day simply brings their specialty finger food and you bring them out one at time like little mini courses….from past Christmas’s we have had tapas, sushi, bbq’d chilli prawns with a wasabi and coriander dipping sauce, now these are super easy and soooo yummy…will hunt out the recipe for you later and this year i’m going to do an italian antipasto platter with all the trimmings…the cured meats, the cheeses, olives, sundried tomatos, artichoke hearts, roast peppers, marinated mushrooms or grilled veges along with some foccoccia and bruschetta…

Have fun looking for ideas….try a couple of the recipe mags that are out at the supermarkets…they have great ideas for this time of year and are good kickstarts for thinking about what sort of things you might like.
